Design Project Engineer (NPD) Design Project Engineer (NPD) Spennymoor, UK SpotLIGHT of the job Thorn Lighting are recruiting for a Design Project Engineer to join our extensive design teams to work on development tasks related to Mechanical product design in accordance with the New Product Development Process. The role is based at our Spennymoor offices and would be ideal for someone looking for stability and longevity in a role where they can not only work on their own project work but cross train in other design areas to be able to provide other departmental support. Responsibilities You will create detailed designs in 3D & 2D CAD. Undertake GD&T and Tolerance Analysis. Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis. BOM creation & maintenance. Working with Industrial Designers to create manufacturable aesthetic concepts. Functional Decomposition of Products. You will generate ideas, concept sketches & rapid prototypes. Designing New Luminaires that have Sustainability and Environmental considerations as a key criteria. Skills & Experience You should be degree qualified in a mechanical engineering related discipline. You have excellent CAD/CAE knowledge and experience. Industrial and manufacturing experience of low to high volume product manufacture. Completed several design and development projects with experience of detailed part design for mechanical components.
